e brake problems

my new truck has disc brakes on the rear with no e brake i'm going to put a manual in it soon should i change the cailbers or the axles and backing plates and put drums on it.oh yea it's a 87 4runner sas i have been working on it every chance i get as long as money lets me.i'll get some pics up but my mom has been the hospital as well. she is alot better now.
