i have a 88 ifs pickup
on no lift and 38s now i have this frame

that was a 82 pickup looks to be redneck lifted 10"s with 5:29 axles locked front and rear im going to put into the 88 what all will it take to swap in the solid axle im thinking after doing the sas to put rears up front and fords in the rear with shackles front <<some how and on the rears i want to stay as low as possible while getting all the flex as possible

ok did some more research so ignore all the above question i have now is do i have to have high steer for the sas or is there a way i can weld or mod something some how to get it to work and this is a 88 ifs v6 truck going sas

buy the high steer, move the IFS box forward and call it done, there are alot of ways to do it but this is what most everyone does

i dont have alot of money and im a full time student im not worried with what most people do Razz i wanna know can it be done with out it lol not to sound like a ass just saying haha and i have all next week off so il prob get my leaf brackets welded on and start swapping

well next best thing is to mount the push pull box from the solid axle frame onto your 88 and use all the steering links from that, anything else you will just have to peace together.

you will have to watch the cross link on things it might hit and bend it.

ok so the purpose of the high steer it to take the rods from both sides and just raise them or what??

if you look at the steering on your axle now it is under the leafs, high steer, has rased arms the puts everything above the leafs and makes them way harder to hit on stuff. that is the BIG thing about it, i think the weakness is the arm that hooks around the shock. i dont know much about the solid axle steering box sept that the lines from the pump will work with both Boxs.

why not move the engine and cab to the 82 frame and fix the lifting on it?

it will be about the same work either way both ideas are going through my head idk what ima do yet except wheel it till it breaks but what they did was take the shackle mounts and just dropped them a long ways down
