for reference... my front end narrow is 16"s.... I started my cut .5" in front of the hood hinges and tried to cut straight LOL. so 8" out of each side is what I ended up with

proof haha,I think I'll call it frankenstein.

Do ya'll think the battery will be okay there,or should I move it out a little more. It's not much progress but hey what can one man do with only a grinder and a stick welder and no idea what in the heck he's doing. Laughing

made some more progress.Got pretty much all the fabbin done.Still need to make a few tabs here and there for mounting things.

Still to do
1.mount electric fan
2.gotta get some hoses
3.mount the tranny cooler
4.re-route p/s cooler
5.throw a battery in it
6.mount cb (got antenna mounted already) did that today just so I could feel like i was making some progress
7. and the BIGGEST thing i MUST accomplish before it can even hit a trail is to change out front third. The crush sleeve is toast and probably the bearings too.
Good news is I have a spare, rebuilt with less than 2,000 miles on it
Bad news it has a spool in it.

You will just have big arms after steering that thing for a while...... NO worries though. I have a welded one in the front. It sucks to steer.

I like your ride.......... Can't wait to see it in Tellico.

Did you get it done yet? You're about 30 bolts from being done, c'mon man, power through! Smile

BTW, I can't figure out what happened here. How did this happen?

Yep,finished it up today. But not without some drama. At some point in time water had gotten into the passenger side hub.The grease around the wheel bearings looked like mississippi river mud.And after cleaning the bearings up discovered they were toast.I really didn't have the money to spare for new ones seeing as how they are made of gold.Luckily I had a used set from another truck that were still in decent shape. So that saved me 60 bucks.

The carrier got chewed up because the crush sleeve got crushed and then the pinion nut backed out.
