Hello,

I have a 1998 4runner 4wd and feel there is an issue with my front axle. I have chased my vibration down to the outer bearing on the driver side of my trans-axle.

I removed the half shaft and inspected, All appears ok. But there is movement up/down/front/back. If i allow the truck to run in gear, all tires off the ground i get a slight oscillation of the cv tulip cup at the trans-axle.
(i am holding the hub so it is not rotating at the time, open rear).

My worry is how much movement, if any, should there be, and how hard is it to change this bearing and seal if necessary? Also when i rotate the shafts (engine off) I can hear a rumble/clicking like a gear rubbing on a synchronizer?

Thank you,
Chris
