Glad to see you placed a timing belt on "Woody" (The name it was dubbed under my watch). It was changed at all the correct intervals. Did I read correctly that you paid 2500 for the car. I paid 3200 for the car back in 97 then it had 60 thousand miles on it. Those relays under the hood were for the fog lights and air horns.

Keep it going,

No, I didnt pay 2500 for the Leatherneck. It was MUCH less. Im not sure if this is the same one or not, it may be though. If so, its great to seee pics of it in its prime.

I'm absolutely positive it's the car here's why and the story behind every dent and oddity.....
I bought that car in 1996 from a dealer. The previous owner won a new car in a golf tournament and traded the car in. It had 64 thousand miles when I bought it. It was the ugliest car on the lot and I loved it. That car carried me through my senior year in high school, through college at ASU, and into my corporate job. I traded that car in on a Nissan Truck in Whithfield VA. The car use to have a nice rack..that explained the rub marks above on the side of the roof. I had air horns on the roof the button use to be on the bottom side of the steering column. My wife always blew the horn accidentally when exiting the car. I was in one accident in college. I rear ended a guy while waving at a girl, it was a in stop and go traffic. That explains the while the drivers side fender and hood are a little out of whack. The original hood had a hood ornament you can see in the before accident pictures. The green switch in the console went to the hella lights that go on the steel brackets coming out of the grill. The wooden climate control knobs I did back when I broke one and decided to fabricate my own. I had bull horn's on the front that I picked up on an trip out west. Those stayed on there until shortly after I got married and one horn rotted off. The wires for the lights and air horns are ran in the passenger side door, and in the B pillar on the passengers side you may find the wires for the air horns. I recall the factory horn button had a bad contact. The fuzzy box below the radio is something I fabricated from removing the original stereo. The relay's under the hood next to the firewall are for the hella lights and air horn.

It was a great car. I did have some issues with the alternator and regulator. They would go out like candy. You couldn't beat that car in the snow.

If you have any questions let me know, and best of luck

I got the 2500 from one of the post it was on. It was a great car....like seeing a family member in the afterlife. Brought back a ton of memories.

LoL, yep, same car. It wont find a more loving family buddy, so its well taken care of. The rocker panels are rusted out from where you drove it around boone so much i guess, damn you! Laughing

Yea, it seems that every car in Boone slowly starts to melt. Perhaps the rocker panels rusting makes it a great chance to cut them out to allow clearance for larger tires and wheels. I always dreamed of doing an engine transplant and increasing the larger tires. The only time I ever got stuck in the car was due to ground clearance.
