ok the time has finally arrived to swap in brians rebuilt 22re.
he also found a guy to rebuild a w56 i sold him too.
i rebuilt a transfercase i had laying around and installed 4.7 gears.
we're pulling the rear diff to install a lunchbox type locker.
the rear springs will be beefed up to handle extra loads
and provide a little lift too.

so far i've done the work by myself. i've got the engine ready to pull
cept for the upper intake and wiring harness, transmission to transfer
case bolts out ( i pull the engine and trans as one unit), third pulled & ready to go to chase at ecgs and the bolts loose on the rear springs.
i'm doing this work in front of my shop on the concrete. bryan has brought me a pop up canopy to provide shade and a well placed fan gives
me just a little breeze. in all it's coming along nicely i've only worked
on this thing about 4 hours.

man it sure is hot.

if anyone has a set of stock seats from a four runner in good
shape let me know. that would save me from making a set from
the junkyard work.

oh and one of my goats died yesterday. musta had a stroke.
good goat -- one of my best breeders -- always had twins.

engine- trans- transfercase and rear third back in place.
all electrics hooked up ready to fire it off.
waiting on a couple rubber hoses from jimmy.
should be here on wed.

man this thing looks good-- i put it back to stock--
every hose, line and wire.

brian is spending a lot on this thing. he got a budbuilt
crossmember too. powder coating the wheels and crossmember.
i installed a v6 radatior from o rialys. looks good-- i wish it did'nt
have plastic tanks tho. i had to modify the mount slightly and clearance
the hood brace so it would close but it should be a good addition to
keep it cool. looks great.

it has taken me a while to get to this point.
working on it a couple hours a day--dealing with the
heat and storms--just gettin things done.
i'll be very pleased long as it runs good.

once it's up and running i'll pull the springs and
beef em up a little--thing sags in the rear bad.

rear springs out.
been out 3-4 days. waiting for someone to come
by & i'll get them to fetch a set of rears out of
the junkyard. i'll cut down the leaves to use in brians pack.
i'm thinkin i'll add 3 leaves and remove the overload
completly. should even up the ride hight and increase
the load carrying capasity too.

oh i drove it around the block a coupla times before i pulled
the springs. drove & runs great. not much more power
but runs cool as a cucumber with the v6 rad. trans shifts like
a brand new one. transfercase makes no noise. grizzley
locker works perfect. over all i'm very pleased with how
it's turning out.

i'm still looking for a set of 4 runner seats.

Do you just need the front? If you don't mind fabing something up I know of some front seats from a dodge car, I can send pictures if you like.
Price=free!

allrighty then---springs built and installed.
got about 2 inches of lift--helped the stance
out greatly. handles as good as it did stock.
man this thing turned out good.
brian picked it up friday and has driven it all weekend.
i spect he put on 4-500 miles saturday and sunday alone.
with not the first hicup.
he went to the highland games up in the mountains this
weekend. and then drove to table rock for some hikeing.

we are gonna get the stock seats recovered. install
new carpet in the front and bedline the rear area.
he wants to install
sound deadner like darcy did on the doors and
body panels to try and quiten it down
a bit. ----sounds like a plan man.

dawg
its making him a great dd.

As far as the sound deadening -- try Raamaudio.com ... I bought some the stuff from summit, and then i bought the Raamaudio stuff, and I feel like i got a better deal from Raamaudio -- shoot the guy an email and tell him Darcy from TTORA recommended it. He helped me order the right amount for what i was doing and shipped it out fast.

though, a LOT of the road noise still comes from the cargo area floor, so plan on getting a heavy mat or something to quiet that down if you're ONLY doing bedliner back there.
