OK, I have a winch to go on the sissy truck. What I want to know is if I replace the "cable" with synthetic rope do I just get said rope that is equal to the rating of the winch or do I have to go a higher rating on the rope?

Like if the winch is rated at 9000 do I need to put a rope that is rated 9000 or up size it to like 12000? Some of you have synthetic on your winch so let me know what you think.

OK, I am bringing this thing back to life.

My orignal question was "What I want to know is if I replace the "cable" with synthetic rope do I just get said rope that is equal to the rating of the winch or do I have to go a higher rating on the rope?"

I have done some research and just wonder if I should go to a 5/16 13,700 line rather than the 1/4 9,200 line?

I think that 80' is all I need for what we do so the cost to put 5/16 is about the same as 100' of 1/4. Ether line is Amsteel Blue so I know it is good stuff.

What say you?

i'd go for the 5/16, just so i'd never have to worry or second guess a pull...
