diff came in yesterday.
i ain't one to complain but if you spent $730 on a third member
would you not expect it to at least have a new driveshaft flange.
you know the one that'll fit all three bolt patterns. i had told the sales guy
that this was going in a v6 runner. when it arrived the first thing
i noticed was the wrong flange. well 2 hours later and with much cussing
i got the one off my old diff installed on the rebuilt one.
so long story short--4 cyl flange--used 4.10 gears (who knows about bearings) and a spool with a solid spacer $980.00 with a $250
refund when my core gets back to them. i know a man in business
has to make a little money but damn.
probly get it installed in the next couple days.
rant off.

just a little update on peril. when i rebuilt the engine i did not put in
a new knock sensor or harness so it was throwing a code for that.
finally got around to gettin those issued repaired as well as a set of
felpro valve cover gaskets. the gaskets that came with the kit were
cheaply made and leaking. no more leak and no more codes. i also
replaced the glasspack with a prius muffler--much quieter meow
but still has a good sound to it.
poor ol girl sits most weeks but bust off easy every time i want to
use it. makes a good fishing rig to get to the river bank.
i did get busted for riding on the new bypass thats still being constructed.
clev. co. detective calls me up so i have him come by my office to chit chat.
in a nutshell he said if he lived close by he'd do the same thing and was
really a cool guy to talk to.
btw with the spool this thing is a doughnut king.

ol peril is still serving me well. my buddy robbie put a exo on his suzuki
sidekick and wanted to ride sunday at housers. after about an hour and
a half his lincon locker broke leaving him with one front and one rear wheel pulling
---needless to say we trudged on with me pulling him out when it got stuck.
a couple hours later on a steep climb i heard a loud bang as he busted
his front dif. we hooked up the chain and ol peril pulled him the rest of
the way up. went to the parking lot, loaded up and left. peril just purrs
like a kitten--loving the way it runs.
so ---robbies wanting to put toyota axles under the seeduki with a 4
link rear and 3 link front. thats something we know nothing about (links).
gonna be a learning process.

Thats awesome Laughing With the link thing, take a LOT of what you read on the interwebs with a grain of salt regarding link #'s, separation etc. At the end of the day, on a stock framed vehicle, you're going to have to have a compromise somewhere.
