Because IIRC the R150 has the 23spline output but a different bolt pattern so an adapter would be needed to mate it to your current gear drive cases. |
The R151F is pretty rare- only came in 86/87 22rte (turbo) trucks
The Tacoma (3.4L) R150 has a different Input shaft length than the 3.0L R150. The Tacoma R150 output shaft connects to the T-case input via a coupler. The coupler is pressed on to the input of the transfer case.
You will need an adapter to run a gear drive case with the R150. you might be able to get a 3.0 R150, it has a passenger side drop T-case, but its a chain drive case just like the Tacoma's.....
When I bought my adapter, I had to make sure I had a 3.4L R150 because of the input shaft length.
That's is why a lot of guys run a 2/3rz. Use a w59 bell housing to mate that engine to any W or G series trans. cheap and easy |
